Slovenia: Inflation rises in April

April 30, 2012

In April, consumer prices rose 1.1% over the previous month, which followed the 1.0% rise seen in March. According to the statistical office, the monthly increase was mainly driven by higher prices for clothing and footwear as well as for alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Owing to the monthly price increase, annual headline inflation rose to 2.6%, up from the 2.3% observed in March. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) inched up from 2.0% in March to 2.1% in April, which represents the highest rate since July 2009.
