Slovenia: Inflation moderates in March

March 30, 2012

In March, consumer prices rose 1.0% over the previous month, which followed the 0.6% rise seen in February. According to the statistical office, the monthly increase was mainly driven by higher prices for clothing and footwear as well as for petroleum products. Despite the monthly price rise, annual headline inflation dropped to 2.3%, markedly down from the 2.9% observed in February, which had represented the highest reading since November 2008. Annual HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) fell from 2.8% in February to 2.4% in March.
