Slovenia: Inflation hits five-month low in October

October 30, 2013

Consumer prices were unchanged over the previous month in October, undershooting the 0.3% increase seen in September. The reading mainly reflects that higher prices for clothing and footwear were offset by lower prices in the majority of the remaining categories.

Annual headline inflation decreased from 1.4% in September to 1.3% in October, reaching the lowest level in five months. Meanwhile, annual HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) decreased from 1.5% in September to 1.1% in October. Annual average HICP inflation declined from 2.4% in September to 2.2% in October.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 2.2% this year, which is up 0.1 percentage points over the previous month's forecast. In 2014, the panel expects HICP inflation to slow to 1.9%, which is also up 0.1 percentage points from last month's estimate.
