Slovenia: Inflation declines in April

April 30, 2014

Consumer prices rose 0.5% over the previous month in April, which followed the 0.8% increase tallied in March. The increase primarily reflects higher prices for clothing and footwear as well as for recreation and culture.

Annual headline inflation fell from 0.6% in March to 0.4% in April. Meanwhile, annual HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) inched down from 0.6% in March to 0.5% in April. Annual average HICP inflation decreased from 1.4% in March to 1.3% in April, which marked the lowest level since May 2010.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 1.2% in 2014, which is down 0.3 percentage points over the previous month's forecast. In 2015, the panel expects HICP inflation to accelerate to 1.6%.
