Slovenia: Consumer prices drop in July
July 31, 2012
In July, consumer prices fell 1.0% over the previous month, which marked the sharpest monthly decline since July last year, and followed the 0.6% drop recorded in May. According to the statistical office, the monthly decline was driven by lower prices for clothing and footwear as well as for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Despite the monthly drop, annual headline inflation inched up from 2.3% in June to 2.4% in July. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) rose from June's 2.3% to 2.4%.
