Slovenia: Consumer prices drop for fourth consecutive month in November

Consumer prices fell 0.2% in November over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.2% increase tallied in October. The monthly reading mostly reflected a sharp decrease in prices for clothing and footwear as well as for communications.

Annual consumer prices fell 0.2% in November, which matched the result tallied in October and represented the fourth consecutive month in which prices record a decline. Meanwhile, annual harmonized inflation stabilized at the previous month’s 0.1% in November. Annual average HICP inflation inched down from October’s 0.5% to 0.4% in November, which marked yet another all-time record low.

The Central Bank expects HICP inflation to average 0.5% in 2014 and 1.1% in 2015. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 0.5% in 2014, which is unchanged over the previous month’s forecast. In 2015, the panel expects HICP inflation to accelerate to 1.0%, which is also unchanged from last month’s estimate.
