Slovenia: Industrial production rebounds strongly in March

In March, industrial production expanded 4.3% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 1.1% drop recorded in February. According to the statistical office, March’s expansion mainly reflected a strong rebound in manufacturing output and electricity, gas and water supply. Conversely, mining and quarrying recorded a sharp drop, mainly due to a high base of comparison from last year.

On a monthly basis, industrial output expanded a seasonally-adjusted 2.0% in March, which contrasted the 0.6% decline tallied in the previous month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production edged up from minus 0.8% in February to minus 0.1% in March, which represented the highest level since August 2012.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 1.4% this year, which is unchanged over last month’s Consensus. For 2015, the panel sees industrial output growth accelerating to 2.3%.
