Slovenia: Industrial production rebounds in January
March 23, 2012
In January, industrial production expanded 1.2% over the same month last year, contrasting the 7.5% drop tallied in December which had marked the steepest decline since January 2010. According to the statistical office, January's improvement was broad-based, as all main sub-components showed higher readings compared to the previous month. Seasonally adjusted data, however, does not corroborate the improvement suggested by annual figures, as industrial production contracted 0.9% over the previous month in January, contrasting a 0.5% rise in December. Meanwhile, the trend continues to point downwards, with the annual average growth in industrial production falling from 2.5% in December to 1.6% in January.
