Slovenia: Industrial production on the upside in the first two months of 2011
April 8, 2011
In February, industrial output expanded 7.7% over the same month the previous year, which was below January's revised 15.1% increase (previously reported: +12.7% year-on-year). However, the February reading reflected a low base of comparison as industrial production contracted 1.2% in the same month the previous year. The strong growth in industrial production was broad-based, but mainly driven by manufacturing and, to a lesser extent, electricity, gas and water, while mining and quarrying registered slow growth. Seasonally adjusted data does not corroborate the slowdown suggested by the annual data, as industrial production expanded 1.7% over January. In addition, annual average growth in industrial production increased from 8.6% in January to 9.3% in February.
