November 11, 2014
In September, industrial production expanded 3.4% over the same month last year. The print followed the 3.9% increase recorded in August and represented the weakest gain since April of this year. According to the statistical office, September’s deceleration reflected a sizeable slowdown in manufacturing output. Conversely, growth in electricity, gas and water supply accelerated in September, while the mining and quarrying sector experienced a strong rebound.
On a monthly basis, industrial output declined a seasonally-adjusted 0.6% in September, which followed the 2.7% drop recorded in the previous month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production rose from 2.7% in August to 3.1% in September.
