Slovenia: Industrial production moderates to five-month low in September

In September, industrial production expanded 3.4% over the same month last year. The print followed the 3.9% increase recorded in August and represented the weakest gain since April of this year. According to the statistical office, September’s deceleration reflected a sizeable slowdown in manufacturing output. Conversely, growth in electricity, gas and water supply accelerated in September, while the mining and quarrying sector experienced a strong rebound.

On a monthly basis, industrial output declined a seasonally-adjusted 0.6% in September, which followed the 2.7% drop recorded in the previous month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production rose from 2.7% in August to 3.1% in September.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 2.4% this year, which is unchanged over last month’s Consensus. For 2015, the panel sees industrial output growth stable at 2.4%, which is also unchanged from last month’s estimate.
