Slovenia: Industrial production declines in December
February 10, 2012
In December, industrial production contracted 2.9% over the same month the year before, which contrasted the 1.0% increase tallied in November. In fact, the reading represented the steepest decline since January 2010. According to the statistical office, December's drop was broad-based, but particularly reflected a large contraction in both the mining as well as in the electricity and gas sector. Seasonally adjusted data does not corroborate the contraction seen in annual figures, as industrial production rose 0.4% over the previous month in December, following a 1.2% increase in November. In the full year 2011, industrial production grew 3.0%, which more than halved the 6.2% expansion recorded in 2010.
