Slovenia: Industrial production decelerates in April

June 10, 2014

In April, industrial production expanded 3.1% over the same month last year, which followed the 4.3% increase recorded in March. According to the statistical office, April’s expansion mainly reflected a strong rebound in mining and quarrying—due to a low base of comparison from last year—as well as healthy growth in electricity, gas and water supply. Conversely, the all-important manufacturing output slowed in April.

On a monthly basis, industrial output expanded a seasonally-adjusted 0.3% in April, which followed the 2.0% increase recorded in the previous month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production swung from minus 0.4% in March to a flat reading in April, which represented the highest level since August 2012.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 1.1% this year, which is down 0.3 percentage points over last month’s Consensus. For 2015, the panel sees industrial output growth accelerating to 2.2%.
