Slovenia: Industrial production accelerates in May

In May, industrial production expanded 3.7% over the same month last year, which followed the 3.1% increase recorded in April. According to the statistical office, May’s expansion mainly reflected stronger growth in manufacturing output as well as in electricity, gas and water supply. Conversely, growth in mining and quarrying moderated in May.

On a monthly basis, industrial output declined a seasonally-adjusted 0.3% in May, which contrasted the 0.3% increase recorded in the previous month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production rose from a flat reading in April to 0.5% in May, which represented the highest level since March 2012.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 1.1% this year, which is down 0.3 percentage points over last month’s Consensus. For 2015, the panel sees industrial output growth accelerating to 2.2%.
