Slovenia: Industrial output growth jumps in February

April 10, 2017

Industrial production expanded 7.5% from the same month a year earlier in February, climbing back from the slowest pace of growth in more than two years in February (+1.7% year-on-year; previously reported: +3.3% yoy). According to the Statistical Office, the acceleration was driven by robust growth in manufacturing and a sharp upswing in mining and quarrying. Conversely, electricity, gas and water supply output growth slowed from a month earlier in February.

Industrial output rose by a seasonally-adjusted 3.6% month-on-month in February, rebounding from January’s significant contraction (-2.5% mom). Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production edged up to 6.8% in February from 6.7% a month earlier.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.4% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel sees industrial output expanding 4.3%.
