Slovenia: Growth in industrial output slows but remains strong in March

In March, industrial production expanded by 4.7% over the same month last year. The print marked a slowdown from the 5.8% increase tallied in February. According to the statistical office, March’s reading reflected a deceleration in manufacturing and a contraction in electricity, gas and water supply. In contrast, mining and quarrying registered a double-digit expansion.

On a monthly basis, industrial output increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.6% in March, which contrasted the 0.2% decrease recorded in the previous month and marked a three-month low.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 2.6% in 2015, which is down 0.3 percentage points over last month’s Consensus. For 2016, the panel sees industrial output growth at 2.8%.
