Slovenia: Growth in industrial output picks up in January

In January, industrial production expanded by 6.5% over the same month last year, marking a four-month high. The print marked an acceleration from the 2.1% increase tallied in December. According to the statistical office, January’s reading reflected a significant increase in activity from the manufacturing sector.

On a monthly basis, industrial output increased a seasonally-adjusted 4.4% in January, the highest figure since January 2009. The reading contrasted the 1.2% decrease recorded in the previous month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production was level in January at December’s 5.1% increase.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 3.6% in 2016, which is unchanged over last month’s Consensus. For 2017, the panel sees industrial output growth at 3.7%.
