Slovenia: Growth in industrial output decelerates in December

In December, industrial production expanded by 1.8% over the same month of the previous year. The print marked a deceleration from the 4.1% increase tallied in November and a one-year low. According to the statistical institute, December’s reading reflected a significant rebound in the mining industry, while manufacturing output contracted.

On a monthly basis, industrial output decreased a seasonally-adjusted 1.3% in December, which contrasted the 0.3% increase recorded in the previous month. In 2015 as a whole, industrial production grew by 4.5%. This is a considerable improvement with respect to the 1.7% growth rate in 2014.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 3.6% in 2016, which is unchanged over last month’s Consensus. For 2017, the panel sees industrial output growth at 3.9%.
