Slovenia: Growth in industrial output accelerates in May

In May, industrial production expanded by 5.1% over the same month last year. The print marked an acceleration from the 4.1% increase tallied in April. According to the statistical office, May’s reading reflected a strong increase in manufacturing, which more than offset contractions in mining and quarrying as well as electricity, gas and water supply.

On a monthly basis, industrial output increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.7% in May, which contrasted the 0.1% decrease recorded in the previous month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production rose from 3.1% in April to 3.3% in May.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 3.0% in 2015, which is unchanged over last month’s Consensus. For 2016, the panel sees industrial output growth at 2.9%.
