Slovenia: Growth in industrial output accelerates in August

In August, industrial production expanded by 5.2% over the same month last year. The print marked an acceleration from the 3.2% increase tallied in July and the strongest growth in three months. According to the statistical office, August’s reading reflected solid increases in the manufacturing and mining sectors. In contrast, the electricity, gas and water supply sector tallied a contraction.

On a monthly basis, industrial output decreased a seasonally-adjusted 0.2% in August, which contrasted the 0.9% increase recorded in the previous month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production increased from 3.6% in July to 3.9% in August.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 3.2% in 2015, which is unchanged over last month’s Consensus. For 2016, the panel sees industrial output growth at 3.1%, which is also unchanged from last month’s forecast.
