Slovenia: Growth in industrial output accelerates in April

June 10, 2016

Industrial production in April expanded 5.3% over the same month last year. The reading marked an acceleration from the 4.4% expansion tallied in March. According to the statistical office, April’s print reflected a notable increase in manufacturing output, which more than offset a drop in both mining production and electricity, gas and steam supply.

On a monthly basis, industrial output rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.5% in April, which contrasted the revised 0.6% decrease recorded in the previous month (previously reported: +0.7% month-on-month). Due to April’s acceleration, annual average growth in industrial production was 5.3%, slightly above March’s 5.1% increase.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 3.3% in 2016, which is down 0.3 percentage points over last month’s Consensus. For 2017, the panel sees industrial output growth at 3.7%.
