Slovakia: Inflation steady in December

Consumer prices fell 0.1% in December, contrasting November’s 0.2% rise. The reading largely reflected lower prices for transport; alcoholic beverages and tobacco; and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance.

Inflation came in at 3.0% in December, matching November’s reading. Moreover, harmonized inflation held steady at 3.2% in December, while annual average inflation was also stable at 2.3%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to average 2.2% in 2020, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s estimate, and 2.1% in 2021.
