Slovakia: Inflation softens at the end of the year
January 14, 2013
In December, consumer prices fell 0.1% over the previous month, which was below the flat reading tallied in November. The monthly print mainly reflected lower prices for transport as well as for alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
Building on the monthly drop, annual headline inflation fell from 3.4% in November to 3.2% in December, which represents the lowest level recorded since January 2011. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) fell from 4.0% in October to 3.8% in November, the latest month for which data are available.
