Slovakia: Inflation rises in October

In October, consumer prices rose 0.1% over the previous month, which mirrored the result recorded in September. The reading mainly reflected higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as for clothing and footwear.

Inflation inched up from a flat reading in September to 0.2% in October, which marked the highest rate of inflation in five months. Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices was unchanged in October compared to the same month last year (September: -0.1%). Annual average HICP inflation recorded flat growth again in October (September: 0.0%).

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 0.1% this year, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. In 2015, the panel expects HICP inflation to increase to 1.2%, which is down 0.2 percentage points from the previous month’s Consensus.
