Slovakia: Inflation moderates further

May 15, 2012

In April, consumer prices increased 0.3% over the previous month, mirroring the increase recorded in March. The monthly reading mainly reflected rising prices for healthcare, as well as for clothing and footwear. Meanwhile, annual headline inflation dropped from 3.8% in March to 3.6% in April, its lowest level since March last year. Annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) stood at 4.2% in April, unchanged for a third consecutive month. The Central Bank expects annual average HICP inflation to reach 2.8% in 2012 before moderating to 1.9% in 2013.
