Slovakia: Inflation eases to 30-month low in June
July 16, 2013
In June, consumer prices rose 0.1% over the previous month, mirroring the increase recorded in May. The monthly increase was driven by higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as for education.
Despite the monthly increase, annual headline inflation inched down from 1.7% in May to 1.6% in June, the lowest level since December 2010. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) edged down from 3.0% May to 2.8% in June.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 2.4% this year, which is down 0.3 percentage points over the previous month's forecast. In 2014, the panel expects HICP inflation to inch up to 2.6%.
