Slovakia: Inflation drops at the outset of the year
February 13, 2013
In January, consumer prices rose 0.6% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.1% decrease tallied in December. The monthly print mainly reflects higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Despite the monthly increase, annual headline inflation fell from 3.2% in December to 2.4% in January, which represents the lowest level recorded since December 2010. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) inched down from 3.8% in November to 3.7% in December, the latest month for which data are available.
