Slovakia: Consumer prices remained unchanged in September over the same month last year

In September, consumer prices rose 0.1% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.2% decline registered in August. The reading mainly reflected higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as for clothing, household equipment and education.

Consumer prices recorded a flat reading over the same month last year in September, matching August’s result. Meanwhile, the harmonized index of consumer prices decreased 0.1% year-on-year in September (August: -0.2%), whereas annual average HICP inflation recorded flat growth (August: +0.1%).

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 0.2% this year, which is unchanged compared to last month’s forecast. In 2015, the panel expects HICP inflation to increase to 1.4%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
