Slovakia: Industrial production inches up in June
August 9, 2013
Industrial output grew 2.7% over the same month last year in June, which was slightly above the 2.6% rise observed in May. According to the statistical office, the increase was due to growth in the manufacturing sector, while decreases were recorded in both the mining and quarrying sector and the energy production sector.
On a monthly basis, industrial production added 0.3% in seasonally adjusted terms, which follows the 0.2% decrease observed in May. Despite faster annual growth in June, the trend continues to point downwards, with annual average growth in industrial production deteriorating from 5.9% in May to 5.3% in June.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panellists expect industrial production to increase 1.4% in 2013, which is unchanged from last month's forecast. For next year, the panel sees industrial output expanding 5.7%.
