Slovakia: Industrial production growth picks up in January
March 13, 2017
In January, industrial production grew a robust 7.6% from the same month of the previous year, which marked an acceleration from December’s 5.8% expansion. According to the Statistical Institute, January’s improvement was broad-based as it reflected increases in all three major categories. The mining and quarrying category grew at the fastest pace, followed by electricity, gas and air-conditioning, while manufacturing came last.
On a monthly basis, industrial production increased 0.5% in seasonally-adjusted terms in January. The print followed December’s 0.4% growth. Annual average growth in industrial production increased from 4.9% in December to 5.2% in January, the highest figure in three months.
