Slovakia: Industrial production growth moderates in November

January 11, 2017

In November, industrial production grew 2.4% from the same month of the previous year, which followed the revised 3.3% expansion in October (previously reported: +3.4% year-on-year). According to the Statistical Institute, November’s weaker growth reflected a sharp drop in the mining and quarrying sector, which more than offset increases in the other two main sectors.

On a monthly basis, industrial production increased 1.0% in seasonally-adjusted terms in November. The print contrasted October’s 0.6% contraction. Annual average growth in industrial production decreased from 4.3% in October to 3.8% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 3.9% in 2017, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, the panel sees industrial growth accelerating to 4.9%.
