Slovakia: Industrial production accelerates in April
June 8, 2011
In April, industrial output expanded 8.3% over the same month last year, accelerating over the 6.8% increase observed in March. The expansion was mostly driven by the good performance of the manufacturing sector, which increased 11.5% year-on-year, boosted by a rise in the production of transport equipment as well as electronics. On a month-on-month basis, industrial production remained flat over the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms, contrasting the 1.1% increase registered in March. Simultaneously, the trend continued to deteriorate in April, with annual average growth dropping to 15.8% from 16.9% recorded in March, after industrial production growth reached its peak in December 2010.
