Slovakia: Industrial output growth accelerates in October

December 12, 2017

Industrial production expanded 5.4% year-on-year in October, more than doubling September’s 2.3% growth. The increase was mainly due to an expansion in manufacture of basic metals and fabricated metal products, which was partially offset by a contraction in manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products.

After seasonal adjustment, industrial production grew 1.4% in monthly terms after September’s 0.8% increase.

As a result of October’s expansion, annual average growth in industrial output edged up from 4.3% in September to 4.5% in October.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.9% in 2018, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2019, the panel sees industrial growth decelerating to 4.4%.
