Slovakia: Growth in industrial production eases in October

Industrial production expanded 4.1% annually in October, following the 7.2% increase tallied in September. According to the statistical institute, October’s result reflected a deceleration in manufacturing output. On the other hand, growth in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply was stronger in October, while the decline in mining and quarrying was less pronounced.

On a monthly basis, industrial production in October declined 0.3% in seasonally-adjusted terms. The print contrasted the 2.2% increase tallied in September. Despite October’s year-on-year slowdown, annual average growth in industrial production rose from 4.0% in September to 4.2%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.6% in 2015, which is down 0.5 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2016, the panel also sees industrial output expanding 4.7%, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s estimate.
