Slovakia: Growth in industrial production accelerates in November

Industrial production expanded 11.9% annually in November, following the 4.2% increase tallied in October. The print marked a four-month high. According to the statistical institute, November’s result reflected a sharp acceleration in both manufacturing output and mining and quarrying. On the other hand, the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply category contracted for the first time in three months.

On a monthly basis, industrial production in November expanded 1.9% in seasonally-adjusted terms. The print contrasted the 0.6% decrease tallied in October. As a result of the acceleration observed in November, annual average growth in industrial production rose from 4.2% in October to 5.5%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to increase 4.8% in 2016, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2017, the panel sees industrial output expanding 4.6%.
