Slovakia: GDP growth accelerates in Q2 at fastest pace in nine quarters
August 15, 2014
In the second quarter, GDP grew 2.5% over the same period of the previous year, according to the preliminary estimate released by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic (SOSR) on 14 August. The print, which came in slightly above the 2.4% expansion registered in Q1, marked the largest expansion since Q1 2012. More detailed data will be released on 3 September.
A quarter-on-quarter comparison does not confirm the improvement suggested by the annual figures; GDP rose a seasonally-adjusted 0.6% over the previous quarter, which marked a minor deceleration over the 0.7% expansion tallied in Q1.
