Serbia: Industrial production slows slightly in December

In December, industrial production expanded 11.0% over the same month of the previous year. The print was slightly down from the 11.7% increase tallied in the previous month. The reading mainly reflected a slowdown in manufacturing.

On a monthly basis, industrial production in December expanded 0.6% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which was a deterioration over the 2.1% increase seen in November. As a result of the strong annual increases observed in the eight months up to December, the overall trend improved as annual average growth in industrial production increased from 7.0% in November to 8.4% in December, the highest level on record.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 4.5% in 2016, which is up 0.5 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2017, the panel sees industrial production growth at 4.1%.
