Serbia: Industrial production improves in February

In February, industrial production expanded 14.0% over the same month of the previous year. The print was up from the 8.3% increase tallied in the previous month. The reading reflected improvements in all components, with mining and quarrying marking the fastest acceleration.

On a monthly basis, industrial production in February expanded 0.2% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which contrasted the 6.5% decrease seen in January. As a result of the strong annual increases observed in the eight months up to February, the overall trend improved as annual average growth in industrial production increased from 9.3% in January to 10.7% in February, the highest level on record.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 4.5% in 2016, which is up 0.5 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2017, the panel sees industrial production growth at 4.1%.
