Serbia: Industrial production improves in August

September 30, 2016

In August, industrial production expanded 5.1% over the same month of last year, coming in above the 0.7% increase seen in July. The figure reflected an acceleration in two of the three components of the index, including a strong rebound in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning component.

On a monthly basis, industrial production decelerated from a revised 1.3% growth in July (previously reported: +1.4 month-on-month) to a soft 0.5% expansion in August. Finally, annual average growth in industrial production decreased from 8.0% in July to 7.4% in August, the lowest reading since November 2015.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 5.6% in 2016, which is up 0.7 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2017, the panel sees industrial production growth at 5.1%.
