Serbia: Industrial production deteriorates in October

January 3, 2017

In October, industrial production in Serbia expanded 3.2% from the same month of last year, coming in below the 5.3% increase seen in September. The figure mainly reflected a deceleration in the manufacturing sector, while growth in the mining and quarrying sector improved from the previous month.

On a monthly basis, industrial production contracted 0.9% in seasonally adjusted terms, contrasting September’s 0.3% increase. The figure was the lowest in five months. Finally, annual average growth in industrial production decreased from 6.7% in September to 6.3% in October.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 5.2% in 2017, which is down 0.4 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2018, the panel also sees industrial production growth at 5.2%.
