Serbia: Industrial production decelerates slightly in March

In March, industrial production expanded 8.8% over the same month of the previous year. The print was down from the 14.0% increase tallied in the previous month. The reading reflected a deceleration in the manufacturing sector.

On a monthly basis, industrial production in March expanded 0.2% in seasonally-adjusted terms, which followed the 0.4% increase seen in February. As a result of the strong annual increases observed in the nine months up to March, the overall trend improved as annual average growth in industrial production increased from 10.7% in February to 11.5% in March, the highest level on record.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 4.5% in 2016, which is up 0.5 percentage points from last month’s estimate. In 2017, the panel sees industrial production growth at 4.1%.
