Serbia: GDP growth stalls again in Q2

According to a flash estimate released on 31 July by the Statistical Office, GDP grew 1.3% in Q2 over the same quarter of last year. The print was similar to the 1.2% growth recorded in Q1, and came in significantly below the 3.0% expansion expected by market analysts.

More comprehensive data will be released on 31 August.

Despite the slowdown in H1, the National Bank of Serbia expects the economy to expand 3.0% in 2017 and 3.5% in 2018. FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect the economy to record 2.7% growth in 2017, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s projection. For 2018, the panel sees GDP increasing 3.1%.
