Saudi Arabia: Inflation stabilizes in April at low levels

May 18, 2015

In April, consumer prices rose 0.30% over the previous month, which was above the 0.08% increase registered in March. The monthly print mainly reflected higher prices for housing, water, electricity and gas, clothing and footwear as well as for health.

Annual inflation came in at the previous month’s 2.0% in April, thereby remaining at the lowest rate since February 2006. Annual average inflation also stabilized in April and stood at March’s 2.5%, which marked the lowest rate since December 2006.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to average 2.7% in 2015, which is down 0.1 percentage points over last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees inflation averaging 3.1%.
