Saudi Arabia: Downward trend in inflation continues in March

April 16, 2015

In March, consumer prices rose 0.08% over the previous month, which was above the flat reading registered in February. The monthly print mainly reflected that a drop in prices for food and beverages as well as for recreation and culture was more than offset by higher prices in most of the remaining categories.

Annual inflation inched down from 2.1% in February to 2.0% in March, which marked the lowest rate since February 2006. Annual average inflation fell from February’s 2.6% to 2.5% in March, thereby marking the lowest rate since January 2007.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect inflation to average 2.7% in 2015, which is down 0.1 percentage points over last month’s projection. For 2016, the panel sees inflation averaging 3.1%.
