Russia: Industrial production speeds up in January
February 15, 2012
In January, industrial production rose 3.8% over the same month the last year, which was above both the 2.5% expansion recorded in December and market expectations of a 2.7% increase. A month-on-month comparison corroborates the acceleration suggested by the annual figures. In January, industrial output expanded a seasonally adjusted 0.4% over the previous month, which was above the 0.1% increase recorded in December. Moreover, the trend improved, with annual average industrial production growth picking up from 3.3% in December to 3.4% in January. The government expects industrial production to expand 3.4% this year.
