Russia: Economic activity decelerates in February
March 31, 2011
Recent activity data suggest that the economy may have lost momentum at the outset of the year. According to the index of economic activity published by Federal Statistics Service (Rosstat), the economy added 3.6% in February over the same month last year, following on a stronger 5.5% print in January. The result marked a slight deceleration in the trend, as annual average growth inched down to 4.8%, after reaching 4.9% last month, which was the highest level since January 2008.
