Romania: Inflation accelerates in June

In June, consumer prices were unchanged compared to the previous month. June’s print was driven by a drop in food prices being compensated by rises in services and non-food goods prices.

Inflation in June came in at 0.9%, up from 0.6% in May but still well below the target range of 1.5%-3.5% set by the Central Bank. Inflation has been below the target range since September 2014. Annual average inflation esdged up from May’s minus 0.2% to minus 0.1% in June, the highest level September 2015.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see consumer prices rising 1.2% on average in 2017, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2018, panelists expect average inflation of 2.8%.
