Romania: Industrial production recovers in June
August 11, 2015
Industrial output rose 3.0% in June over the same month last year, which contrasted May’s 0.5% contraction that had represented the first drop in two years. According to the National Institute of Statistics, June’s recovery mainly resulted from a strong pickup in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply category. In addition, mining and quarrying contracted at a much softer pace in June than in May. Conversely, manufacturing growth decelerated notably in June.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose 0.6% in June, which contrasted the 0.1% drop tallied in the previous month. Annual average growth in industrial production fell from 3.4% in May to 2.8% in June.
