Romania: Industrial production improves in September

In September, industrial output rose 10.0% over the same month last year, marking a significant improvement over the 4.3% expansion recorded in August. According to the National Institute of Statistics, the improvement came on the back of an expansion in mining and quarrying as well as in manufacturing.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rebounded from a revised 0.5% contraction in August (previously reported: -1.0% mom) to a 2.4% expansion in September. In addition, annual average growth in industrial production rose from 5.3% in August to 6.2% in September.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 3.9% in 2013, which is unchanged from last month's estimate. The panel estimates that industrial output will increase 4.5% in 2014, which is also unchanged over last month's projection.
