Romania: Industrial production falls in October

Industrial output fell 0.1% in October from the same month of the previous year, a marked slowdown from September’s 3.4% expansion. According to the National Institute of Statistics, the mining and quarrying and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sectors contracted, while the manufacturing sector grew in October compared to the same month in 2015.

On a seasonally-adjusted month-on-month basis, industrial production fell 0.7% in October, contrasting September’s 0.8% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production was unchanged at 1.6%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 3.3% in 2017, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. The panel predicts that industrial output will increase 3.9% in 2018.
