Romania: Industrial output rebounds in January
March 9, 2012
In January, industrial output rose 1.2% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 2.2% contraction observed in December. The increase was driven by a rebound in the manufacturing sector as well as resilient growth in mining and quarrying. Compared to the previous month, industrial production rose 0.6% in seasonally and working-day adjusted terms, which contrasted a 0.4% contraction recorded in December. Annual average growth moderated from a 5.6% increase in December to a 4.8% expansion in January, the slowest level since August 2010.
